As much as I enjoy writing, my books would really just be stories on my laptop if not for all of you readers. Every time someone sends me a simple note or an elaborate explanation of why they love something I’ve written I can’t tell you how much it means. The only thing better than chatting with readers online or through the mail is meeting them at conferences. I’ve met so many people that I keep in constant contact with through these great parties that I look forward to each one more and more. Seeing friendly faces and meeting new people is the highlight of my year.
SO… I wanted to tell you all about one of my favorite events. Lora Leigh’s Reader Appreciation Weekend is a blast. It’s a big party for people like us, who love to read! One of the first erotic romances I ever stumbled across was Marly’s Choice. And ever since then there was no turning back. I can’t tell you what a privilege is it to talk to some of my absolute favorite authors (Shayla Black and Mari Carr I’m looking at you too!).
Hey, I’m a reader first! I’ve been to this event the past two years and it’s always great fun. There’s a PJ party and a masquerade. Don’t worry, if you’re not comfortable dressing up you can wear regular clothes, no worries. But this year I’m thinking of going all out since I skimped on the costumes at RT. What do you think? I’ll be pairing it with a feathery mask in true masquerade ball style (but you can wear any costume you like or none at all… well… you have to wear SOMETHING but it can be whatever you like).
And this year the event is going to be at a really great-looking resort in Maryland, the Rocky Gap Lodge and Golf Resort, from October 27th-30th. I can’t wait. You know why? The best new add to the schedule in my opinion is SMORES night. That’s right. Marshmallows. Mmmmm.
Okay, if that hasn’t convinced you then I’m not sure what will. Authors, books, raffles, SMORES, costume parties, goodies, and lots more are waiting. Come on over to Lora Leigh’s Reader Appreciation Weekend. Confirmed authors are listed on their site along with all the details you need to register. You can check it out here.
I’ll leave you with a snapshot from last year. Cause you have to love these readers! I hope to see you again or meet you there. Only 11 weeks left to go!

WOOOOO cannot wait – you’re going to look BEAUTIFUL in your dress!!!
Oh wow SMORES? I’m jealous. You have a wonderful time and take lots of pics, can’t wait to see you in this dress. Did Mari get a costume yet? If not let me know I will make one that you can make her wear!! xoxox Have fun wish I was going.
You are going to have such an amazing time, Jayne! Be sure to toss us a few photos, please! 😉
Haven’t read any of your book yet, but was referred by Kim, so I’m getting ready to go to Amazon to check them out.. I use my kindle to download, so much easier.. Will post ratings when I am finished.. thanks..
Thank you for all of the kind words. It means a lot more when you know that your (my) words are actually being read. Sometimes I wonder. I guess you showed me that I was wrong. Thank you again.
What a lovely event to attend. I wish I were down in the loser 48 to attend one these wonderful things…*S* Maybe after we back down hopefully next spring or summer. As much as we love Alaska, it’s expensive to live and healthcare is not what it should be.
Nonetheless, the dress is elegant and beautiful, and feathered mask would be just the right accent…Yes lots of pictures for us to look at Please!
Thank you and Mari for the Compass Boys. Just finished Southern Comfort…and it was wonderful!
Darcy

Oh definitely! There are always some good ones from this event. Someday you’ll be in them too, Fe!
Hi Sandy. Nice to “meet” you. Don’t believe anything Kim told you about me 😛 Hope you enjoy. Happy reading!
Marie, I can’t speak for other authors but I love reading those notes! Wouldn’t miss it for the world. I try to respond to all of the ones I get so hopefully you never have to wonder 🙂
Alaska, huh? Say hi to Silas 🙂 I hope to see you next year Darcy and thanks for the compliments on Compass Brothers. I love working with Mari Carr. She wrote Seth’s parts and I love them too! Just finished final line edits on Eastern Ambitions over the weekend. Next up, Sam!
Desiree, check my contact page. You’re always welcome to send me a SASE for goodies 🙂
I can’t wait either, Kim! Thanks!
I wish you were going too, Dawn! Mari is not likely to wear a costume. You know how she hates them. Hey, there’s something to be said for being comfortable. 🙂 She’s all over the PJ party.
I am looking forward to RAW and all the parties. I have my costume and I can not wait for the PJ party and Smores. I can not wait to meet you and the other authors. It is my first one and I can not wait.
Looking forward to my first RAW experience! And pal Sahra Kelly and I will be heating up the bonfire and s’mores with a hot game of trivia to win loads of terrific prizes, including a kindle filled with books! Baileys truffles , gooey marshmellows, laughter and the crisp (hopefully) autumn night of a Halloween weekend! Does it get any better than that??
See you in …ack, 11 weeks!
What costume are you wearing Monique? Can’t wait to see it! The PJ party is awesome. Definitely a highlight! I remember the first time I went to RAW. I went as a reader, not an author, and I went by myself. People made me feel so welcome I’ve gone back every year. Just look for me if you want someone to sit with or hang out with!
I will look for you. My costume is from one Lora Leigh books. My friend Sabina and I are wearing the same costume. This will be her first RAW too. I am counting down about 10 weeks.
Hi Jayne!
Just started reading you through your Powertools series. Really great stuff! I’ll be at RAW too and am looking forward to meeting Some of my favorite authors, both old and new! Between Lora Leigh, Lori Foster, Lorelei James and you, I’ll be in reader heaven!
